The Fine Arts Fair Taps Nostalgia to Inspire the Future

Nostalgia gets a bad rap. Those rose-colored glasses sure can distort. But what if wistfulness could will into existence a better tomorrow? Partnering yet again with GANGGANG founders Mali and Alan Bacon for the fourth iteration of this event brand, we reimagined what it means to feel truly free by tapping into the “delirious joy” of childhood.

Inspired by the carefree magic of Saturday mornings, we wanted to bring that fleeting sense of optimism and wonder to this year’s event. It was only natural, then, that we got to collaborate with Fitz on a custom cartoon character. From the cereal box art and VIP invites to the nostalgic advertising-inspired posters, vibrant merch, and immersive event signage, every touchpoint was a reminder of a time when joy was abundant and the possibilities felt endless.

BUTTER 4 challenged us to realize that same energy in the present. It’s not about living in the past; it’s about using that feeling to shape a future where joy, art, and freedom are within reach for everyone.
